Bristol City Centre BID, Redcliffe & Temple BID and Broadmead BID are encouraging people to vote for their favourite local business in the city centre as part of a national competition.

Help Us Find The UK’s Favourite Local Business launched on 1st December and runs through to 21st December. Any local business can be nominated, with the business receiving the most votes being crowned as the UK’s favourite.
The Love Bristol Gift Card is an initiative to champion local businesses in Bristol, led by the three central Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and launched in the summer.

Over 130 businesses are part of the initiative, including over 50 food and drink businesses, over 50 shops, and 10 accommodation providers. Bristol’s three BIDs also unveiled the new Love Bristol Night Out Gift Card in November.

At the end of December, the business crowned as the UK’s favourite business, and the person who nominated them, will receive a £500 gift card each.

Steve Bluff, Head of Redcliffe & Temple BID, said the competition is an opportunity for local businesses in Bristol to be recognised for their efforts:
“Bristol is one of the best cities in the UK, with hundreds of truly unique, fantastic businesses. It is our local businesses who are the beating heart of our city, and make it a unique place to live, work and visit. It would be brilliant to see a Bristol business taking the crown as the UK’s favourite business as we shine a light on local.”

Vivienne Kennedy, head of Broadmead BID, said: “From plants to cocktails, fantastic food to sustainable shopping, this is a chance for people to vote for their favourite shops, restaurants, cafés, salons and more in Broadmead, The Galleries, The Arcade, and right across Bristol city centre.”

Vicky Lee, Head of Bristol City Centre BID, adds: “Any local business from Bristol city centre can be nominated in the competition. It takes just 5 minutes to put forward a business, sharing their name and what makes them special. As a business, knowing someone has taken the time to nominate them would be a huge boost, and we look forward to sharing the stories of nominees over the coming weeks.”

The competition is backed by Miconex, founders of the Town & City Gift Card concept. Managing director of Miconex, Colin Munro, said:
“We’re pleased to invite Bristolians to Help Us Find The UK’s Favourite Local Business. Support for local is at an all-time high with 90% of consumers in our August 2022 survey saying they’re keen to support local this Christmas. In the current economic climate, local businesses need our support as much as ever. Nominating your favourite local business in Bristol is one way you can show your support for local, and help to keep your local area thriving.”
