Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon, Jamz Supernova and Heartless Bastards amongst the many talents to be hosted by Bristol Beacon across seven nights of festive fun this December.
As the official countdown to Christmas begins, Bristol Beacon are hosting another month of incredible live performances across Bristol’s iconic venues. With seven evenings of music ranging from rock and pop to jazz and electronic about to take place, Bristol Beacon is sure to have Bristolians rockin’ around with Christmas cheer.
Kickstarting the advent of musical talent, Heartless Bastards will be encompassing elements of French pop, Celtic folk, post-punk and space rock which showcases their reflective and radiant songwriting. Storming the stage at the Exchange on December 7, expect nothing less than an exquisite and engaging evening hosted by Bristol Beacon.
Taking you on a journey to a curious musical place filled with elements of Berlin cabaret, Latin tinge, French musette and storytelling - Moscow Drug Club will be bringing a transcendent performance at Bristol Beacon’s Foyer. Trained in both classical and jazz vocals, frontwoman Katya Gorrie, will leave audiences mesmerised with this intoxicating and intimate music experience.
On December 9, trailblazing tastemaker, Jamz Supernova will be providing the high energy and in-your-face soundtrack for night with her eclectic selections of UK funk, underground club cuts and breakbeat percussion. Strange Brew will be the place to be for this not-to-miss performance where Jamz will be spinning the decks in an all-night DJ set.
For an evening of prolific output and melodic prowess, Grant-Lee Phillips marks his tenth solo release, ‘Lightening, Show Us Your Stuff’, with a soulful performance on Saturday December 10. Addressing the strange fragility of life and showcasing an ear for lyric in everyday conversion, Phillips is set to wow audiences at Bristol Folk House.
Experimental and electronic - PLAID have returned with their eleventh album, ‘Feorm Falorx’, and are bringing it to Strange Brew on December 10. A playful and wondrous collection of songs, the duo are the perfect encapsulation of what the electronic music of their generations was all about. Intimate but always grooving, expect an immersive listening experience.
After starting his first quartet after studying jazz performance at the Birmingham Conservatoire, Alex Merritt is now a Bristol resident and is bringing his music to Bristol on December 11. Having worked under leading Saxophonists, Julian Seigel and Jean Toussaint, this performance is guaranteed to bring the smooth grooves and rhythms to Bristol Beacon’s Foyer.
Taking us to the Pop Dungeon is none other than Welsh legend, Charlotte Church. Prime time for anyone looking for the ideal Work Christmas do or just a final knees up before the festive season gets underway. Levelling up a sparkly jukebox of anthems spanning from En Vogue to Bowie and Kate Bush to Nine Inch Nails. Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon’s genre-fluid set has become the stuff of festival legend, and - deep breath - this will be their final ever tour.
