The brand new series of outdoor sessions at Propyard, Summer Social, will bring spectacular free DJ events and live performances to the venue’s continuously evolving outdoor courtyard space. The first edition is set to take place this Saturday 6 August from 2pm until 11pm for a party like no other, to celebrate Jamaican Independence Day.

Dancing at Propyard

The first of four in the series, Summer Social, Part 1 is a free ticketed event with the legendary Musical Youth heading up a host of anthems, including their global number one single ‘Pass the Dutchie’, which made Musical Youth a household name around the world. Party-goers can expect talent from the world of Reggae, Dub and Dancehall in what promises to be an ultimate day of celebration.

Also on the bill is Horseman, with their incredible track record in the scene, having worked with Tippa Irie, Max Romeo, Gregory Issacs, Sugar Minott, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and many more. Throughout the day, guests will also be dancing to some incredible music from Bristol, including from Lexxi, Sasha Steppa and Angel Mel, who is returning to the venue after her unforgettable set with Jazzie B earlier this year.

With more than just a stellar music line-up, visitors can experience mouth-watering Caribbean flavours from Agnes Spencer's Amazing Jamaican cuisine. Flavour-seekers can expect to indulge in authentic Jamaican food including Curry Goat, Jerk Chicken and Jamaican Patties. Resident food vendors, Jafra and Pizzarova will also be on hand to dish up some sensational food.

Propyard’s Summer Social series will welcome both children and dogs to join until 8PM, so will make for a truly family-friendly day out. Running throughout the afternoon and into the evening, guests can take in the sunset at the beautiful Propyard Courtyard, featuring outdoor seating and undercover canopy areas - giving the series a mini-festival vibe.

The art, music and events venue is set to host an edition of Summer Social every Saturday throughout August with weekly event line-ups available on the venue's website. Entry is free but visitors can make advance bookings via https://propyard.co.uk/events/ to guarantee entry.

Summer Social: Parts 2 to 4 are also set to be nights to remember, with incredible sets from World DMC Champions and turntablists Scratch Perverts and DJ Format, who promise to be both pleasing to the ears and equally entertaining to the eyes.

For the first time ever, Crazy P will be headlining a DJ set at Propyard for Summer Social: Part 3 after WOW-ing the crowds at Glastonbury with their popular disco sounds, along with sets from Bristol’s very own Ellie Stokes.

The courtyard will be open for Part 4 of the Summer Social series, and the entire family is invited for a day of activities including a drag queen workshop, crafts and much more for a spectacular party to mark the end of the summer holidays with the Bristol Drag Collective.

Alongside its Summer Social events, Propyard is also hosting a School’s Out - Summer Art Series for children, which includes a Build Your Own Sunflower workshop, Hapa Zome Printing workshop with Davina Botanica, Graffiti Your Name workshops and more throughout the summer.
