Apex City of Bath is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its property in Bath.

So, what does five years in the life of a hotel in the heart of one of the UK’s most popular tourist centres look like? Apex Hotels delved into its books to reveal some interesting facts.

For a start, visitors to Apex City of Bath Hotel apparently have a sweet tooth. In five years (including the covid lockdown periods when the hotel was closed), 750,000 sachets of sugar were consumed. If you think that each sachet of sugar roughly equates to one teaspoon, or 4g of sugar, the guests at Apex City of Bath Hotel went through 30 tonnes of the sweet stuff in five years. Records at the hotel show that on average 242 sachets of white, 100 sachets of brown and 137 sachets of sweetener were used every day. And that doesn’t include sugar cubes, which the hotel also offers.

And that isn’t the only staggering figure Apex was able to reveal. Guests to the Bath hotel drank 37,703 litres of milk in the five years since the hotel opened. That’s almost 38 tonnes of milk – or enough to fill a double garage.

Clearly, people visiting Apex City of Bath Hotel are traditionalists who love a cup of tea or coffee. In fact, they love it so much that the hotel served the equivalent of 222,255 double espressos since opening. Looked at on a daily basis this equated to 2.5kg of coffee per day. This is the heart of England, and the traditional cup of tea was also favoured by guests. The hotel has used 84,000 English Breakfast tea bags since opening. That figure doesn’t include the tea bags available for use in the guest bedrooms and doesn’t include other varieties of tea.

The picture fits with the image of graceful Georgian ladies and gents visiting Bath to take the waters and imbiding some restorative beverages along the way. Bath was the scene for the popular Netflix series, Bridgerton, and the cast and crew stayed at the hotel during filming. Perhaps they are responsible for all the tea and coffee drinking!

However, popular as tea and coffee may be in Bath, Michael Musgrave, General Manager at Apex City of Bath Hotel revealed his guests’ most requested beverages. “I won’t get into quantities, but let’s just say that our guests love sipping on something chilled and preferable sparkling. Prosecco is definitely the most popular drink in the hotel, followed by white wine and then beer,” he elaborated."

In addition to the cast and crew of Bridgerton, Apex City of Bath Hotel has welcomed many other famous faces in the five years it has been open. Sir Bradley Wiggins, the cast and crew of the upcoming Wonka film and ITV drama, McDonald and Dodds have also enjoyed the Warmer Welcome offered by Apex Hotels in Bath.

With such illustrious guests and a discerning clientele, you may be wondering what the strangest request the hotel has received is. Michael was willing to reveal the secret: “It has to be being asked for breakfast for 150 people at 2am!” he laughed. Naturally the hotel delivered!

With the largest purpose-built conference centre in Bath, a stunning pool, food & beverage outlets and spacious, comfortable rooms, perhaps the Apex City of Bath Hotel could be your perfect cup of tea!

And now is a great time to see for yourself, as the hotel has launched a terrific offer to celebrate its fifth anniversary.
