Staff at Haynes Motor Museum are gearing up to host their first ever car boot sale this August.

To get into the mood, the Somerset attraction has been trialling its very own attempt at car booting with a replica 1996 Formula One Ferrari. However, it was soon clear it was missing the key feature of a boot.

Starting on Saturday 6th August and continuing the first Saturday of each month this year, the car boot sales will be taking place next to the famous motoring Museum within their new, dedicated outdoor hardstanding events area.

The monthly car boot gatherings are set to be one of the largest in the Southwest and can welcome up to 500 vehicles to either sell or buy from car boots, vans or trailers.

Events Manager Sarah Berry said "Whilst our staff have been having a bit of fun pretending to create their very own Formula One inspired car boot sale, we are genuinely looking forward to seeing our outside space fill up with excitable buyers and sellers."

"We’re encouraging people to bring along anything from accessories to quirky collectables they perhaps no longer want and to help find a new home for them. We just hope no one is planning to give away any of their Haynes motoring manuals quite yet!"

"In addition to the lavish interiors, slick tyres and roaring engines that visitors are accustomed to seeing at the Museum, we’re hoping the car boot sales bring something a bit different for visitors to enjoy each month,” she added.

Sellers will be able to able to arrive to setup from 8:30am with the gates open to buyers from 10am.

The car boot will cost sellers £5 per car or £10 if bringing a trailer or van. It will cost £1 per person entry for buyers and children under the age of 10 free of charge. Toilets along with food and drink will also be available for those attending.

The first car boot coincides with the Museum’s Summer Outdoor Car Displays which means sellers and buyers may also get a glimpse of some of the spectacular collection which will be roaring into action.

They also sit alongside the Museum’s other monthly event, The Haynes Breakfast Club. Taking place on the first Sunday of every month the Breakfast Club sees like-minded motoring enthusiasts meet up and exhibit a collection of spectacular wheels.

The car boot sales will take place on 6th August, 3rd September, 1st October, 5th November and 3rd December 2022. For full details, please visit https://www.haynesmuseum.org/events
