The 2022 Weston Air Festival wowed crowds of thousands across Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June as it made its long-awaited return to the North Somerset seafront. Families and airshow fans gathered on the beaches to enjoy an action packed programme of world-class air displays, including the RAF Red Arrows, who gave a phenomenal finale to close the weekend.

The mesmerising air display programme on Saturday afternoon opened with The Armed Forces Day Parade, which set off from the Grand Pier and made its way down Marine Road. The Yak–3 kicked off the day’s flying activity, followed by the RAF Tutor T1, Airborne Pyrotechnics Grob 109B, Calidus Autogyro, Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers, Pitts Special, Gazelle Squadron, Team Raven, Slingsby T67 Firefly with The Global Stars closing out day one.

Sunday saw The Global Stars open the show, followed by the Grob 109B, Calidus Autogyro, Yak-3, Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers, Pitts Special, Gazelle Squadron, Team Raven, Battle of Britain Hurricane, RAF Tutor T1 and a crowd-pleasing display from the RAF Red Arrows.

As well as the awe-inspiring flying programme, Weston-super-Mare seafront hosted the event and armed forces villages with ground entertainment, live music, trade stands, fair grounds, bars and catering.

The Weston Air Festival brings a much needed boost to Weston-super-Mare’s economy, placing the iconic seaside town on the national map as a destination of choice and a great place to bring the entire family.
