Mya-Rose Craig, aka ‘Birdgirl’, will be celebrating the launch of her new book ‘Birdgirl’ on 2 July at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre, in Gloucestershire.

Slimbridge Wetland Centre are excited to be supporting Mya-Rose on the launch of her new book by hosting a special talk and book signing with the 20-year-old birder, environmentalist and diversity activist.

On 2 July visitors to Slimbridge can attend a special talk in their exciting new Living Wetland Theatre, to hear all about the book and how Slimbridge features within it. The talk will take place at 11.30am and will last around 45 minutes. Following on from the talk, visitors can then join Mya-Rose for a book signing in Slimbridge’s Gift Shop located in their Visitor Centre – where the book will also be available to purchase.

Mya-Rose’s new book, Birdgirl, tells the story of a young environmentalist looking to the skies in search of a better future and comes out on 30 June with Vintage Books. The book is a poignant memoir, with stunning illustrations of birds throughout.

Alongside the book launch event on 2 July, Slimbridge have been running a competition on their social media channels for a chance for their followers to win a signed copy of the Birdgirl book.

Mya-Rose explains: “Birdwatching has never felt like a hobby, or a pastime I can pick up and put down, but a thread running through the pattern of my life, so tightly woven in that there’s no way of pulling it free and leaving the rest of my life intact.”
