Easter at the Roman Baths, Fashion Museum and Victoria Art Gallery

Easter is the perfect time to explore Bath & North East Somerset Council’s museums, with special Easter events and activities for all ages.  

The Roman Baths will stay open until 8pm over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, so that visitors can explore the historic site after hours and enjoy a drink from a pop-up bar beside the Great Bath as the sun begins to set.

For younger visitors, there will be creative craft sessions on selected dates, inspired by the museum collections. Make a Roman-style fridge magnet at the Roman Baths, design your own paper shoe at the Fashion Museum, or create a print by rubbing over a textured collage at the Victoria Art Gallery.

Family activities are either free or included in the usual admission price. Admission is free for local residents with a Discovery Card or ID*. The sessions are suitable for children aged three and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Councillor Dine Romero, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Communities and Culture at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “It’s great that we’re able to offer Easter activities again, after a break of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I hope lots of people will have an opportunity to enjoy our museums over Easter – whether they’re relaxing with a drink beside the Great Bath or bringing their children to a fun craft session.”

Monday 11 April, 10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4pm

Investigate how the Romans used animal images in decoration and make an animal fridge magnet.

Shoe Surprise
Fashion Museum
Tuesdays 12 and 19 April, 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3pm
Free activity in the Assembly Rooms, no need to book. Tickets required to visit the Fashion Museum.

Get inspired by the Shoephoria! exhibition and create your own special paper shoe.

Faces and Flowers
Victoria Art Gallery
Wednesdays 13 and 20 April, 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3pm
Free activity, no need to book

Create a design using collage and textures and use it to make a print through rubbing.
