A colourful walkway of rainbow bunting has been unveiled at SouthGate Bath, transforming St Lawrence Street and The Place into a cheery spectacle.

The multi-coloured canopy will be made from 3,675 individual ribbon strips and follows the centre’s iconic Umbrella Street and Wisteria Walkway installations in previous years, providing the perfect photo opportunity and brightening up shoppers’ days.

Shoppers and diners can admire the display at the centre throughout the summer until September.

Guy Henderson, centre director at SouthGate Bath, said: “Following the success of our installations in previous years, we’re so excited to unveil this summer’s scheme.

“After a difficult year for so many people we’re looking forward to seeing our local shoppers again as well welcoming tourists to Bath this summer, and hope that the colourful scheme will help bring a smile to their faces.

“Throughout the summer, we’ll also be participating in Bath in Bloom where we’ll have lots of flower hanging baskets as well as bee and butterfly shaped floral sculptures.

“One thing’s for sure, SouthGath Bath will be one of the most colourful destinations this summer so shoppers should definitely have their smartphones or cameras to hand – we can’t wait to see all of their snaps!”

Kathryn Davis, Visit West’s Director of Tourism, said: “SouthGate Bath’s installations always make such a welcome addition to the city, bringing lots of vibrancy to the streets each summer.

“We’re expecting it to be a busy summer this year with staycations and domestic holidays on the rise, so it’s great to have the city looking so bright and colourful for visitors to enjoy as they spend time exploring the shops and restaurants that Bath has to offer.”
