Welcome to Visit West
The visitor economy is vitally important to the Bristol, Bath and the West of England region, at its peak in 2019 worth in excess of £2.33bn and employing an estimated 45,000 people.
The impact of Covid-19 - the loss of our business events market and business travel, our international visitor market, events and festivals programme and significantly reduced capacity or continued closure of key venues, as well as a significantly restricted domestic market – has had a devastating effect across the region, but we will recover and we will welcome back visitors.
As we launch a new Destination Management Organisation for Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, our aim is to support the industry as it recovers and rebuilds, providing and signposting information to enable our business community not only to survive but to thrive. We will develop new routes to market, provide unique opportunities for destination led consumer marketing and ensure that our business events market can develop and compete in the market, not just in the UK but internationally.
We will do this by creating a strong and collaborative visitor economy as we work across the key cities of Bristol and Bath, our surrounding towns and villages and those businesses within, to showcase the most unique and inspirational visitor destination in the UK.
As well as inspiring visits, and developing routes to market, we support our visitor economy through access to research and support, including opportunities to promote and develop your workforce. Working with strategic partners, this includes the Jobs Connect platform to support industry recruitment.
