KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar in Clifton are no strangers to mixing up a fair few cocktails over a busy weekend, but this August Bank Holiday they’re doing it on another level!

Cue the World’s largest Whisky Old Fashioned, which will be created at the centre of the King’s Road, Clifton, Bank Holiday Street Party on Sunday 27 August.

This Guinness World Record attempt will see KIBOU’s drinks specialist, Benjamin Salguero, muddling up a 250-litre Old Fashioned, using Maker’s Mark bourbon, sugar, water and some specially created Japanese-infused bitters.

The King’s Road Street party runs from 12pm to 10pm, and is a collaboration between KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar, Dirty Bird cocktail bar, Catley’s Bakery and Discover Clifton, Clifton Village’s Business Improvement District.

Expect live bands and DJs throughout the day and evening, pop-up bars serving draught Kirin, cocktails, spirits and softs, KIBOU’s Japanese street food and baked goods from Catley’s, plus much more.

The Guinness World Record attempt will kick off from 12.30pm, with glasses of this ‘record-winning’ classic cocktail available to purchase for £8 at the event, and across all KIBOU Restaurants whilst stocks last. They’ll also be a dedicated ‘flavour bar’ where you can customise your Old Fashioned to suit your palate, with the addition of pineapple, raspberry and yuzu.

Commenting on the Guinness World Record attempt, and the street party, Benjamin Salguero, Deputy Manager at KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar says;

“Creating the World’s largest Old Fashioned at our annual street party is going to add a real sense of theatre and fun to the event, and hopefully the opportunity for everyone involved to be part of a little bit of history. We’re going to be adding our own little Japanese twist to this classic drink for the occasion too, through the addition of a specially curated selection of Japanese bitters to really make this attempt unique.”
