Why not spring into surfing this Easter, with a trip to The Wave? The unique inland surfing destination in Bristol provides perfect waves on-demand for everyone, from a child stepping on a board for the first time, to a professional training for the Olympics. As well as surf lessons and a range of different surf sessions for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, this spring there are even more reasons to visit - making Easter the perfect time to head inland to surf, eat, play, sleep...repeat!

Stay metres from the waves - Availability at The Camp in Easter holidays
The Camp at The Wave opened last summer and means you can now stay just metres from the most consistent surf break in the UK. Wake to the sound of waves in one of the 25 furnished tents, located just a short walk from the shore of the surfing lake. There is currently still some availability for the Easter holidays.

The tents pay homage to the surfing spirit of adventure and sleep up to 8 people. They are kitted out with comfortable beds, a kitchenette with hot water, private toilet, fridge, large balcony area at the front, and wood burner for cosy evenings. The Clubhouse is on hand for delicious food and drinks, from breakfast brioches, to G&T sundowners and relaxed evening meals.

Stays in April and May cost from £150 a night (£180 per night in the Easter holidays) and there is a two-night minimum stay.

New activities for younger visitors
This year The Camp is also offering some additional activities to keep our younger visitors amused. They are aimed at children aged 4-8 years old.

Wilderness Explorers is a 90min voyage of discovery through the green fields around The Wave, discovering all about the min-beasts that call it home (£10 per child).  The 60-min Eco Arts and Crafts session is a chance to get creative and turn waste, such as plastic bottles and cardboard, into items that can be used to encourage the nature around us to feed, hide or play (£7.50 per child). At the end of every day there will also be a free Storytelling and Song Time – a chance to read and listen to some of the most-loved children's books, join in with some fun activities and sing songs. These activities will be bookable in advance for those who have booked a stay at The Camp.

In addition, Play in the Bay will be back from Saturday 9th April! This is our very popular session aimed at those who are too young for beginner lessons, but want to have fun paddling, splashing and taking a dip.

Women-Only sessions launch
On International Women’s Day, we launched our Women-Only sessions. We know there is a real desire for the support and camaraderie that women get from surfing together and we have created these sessions to offer a supportive female space for those that feel they want or need it as they progress on their surfing journey. There will initially be a Women-Only Beginner Lesson, Waikiki surf, Intermediate surf, and Advanced surf session each month, starting from April. The plan is to extend this and add more options as demand grows.

Site trail launches
Did you know the first thing to surf our waves was a swan, or that we unearthed Roman relics during the build?  A new trail around The Wave is launching this Easter which will be a way for the whole family to discover the site and find out a bit more about this amazing space. There are 9 spots on the route with different information boards to read and videos to watch. Collect a stamp at each stop on the trail to get a free pack of sunflower seeds to take home and plant.

Background on The Wave
The Wave is located in a beautiful rural site on the edge of Bristol, close to the M5.  At its heart is a 180m long surfing lake, powered by innovative Wavegarden Cove technology. This provides waves suitable for everyone, from a child stepping on the board for the first time, to professional surfers training for the Olympics. The Wave is all about getting people outside in nature, being active and sharing the fun and blue health benefits of surfing with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Surfing is a rapidly growing sport and made its Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021. The accessibility of surfing has been held back by geographical limitations, weather, swell conditions and tides. The Wave overcomes all these issues to bring perfect surfing conditions for beginners, intermediates and advanced surfers.
