Work has been completed on reopening a disability-compliant toilet at Charlotte Street in Bath this week following a £12,000 investment.

The upgrade of the toilet at the entrance to Charlotte Street car park has enabled it to be fully modernised with new flooring, tiling, fixtures and a contactless payment reader.

A further four unisex units, one of which is also disability-compliant, are also available at the rear of the car park for visitors.

Capital funding of £12,000 has also been agreed by Bath & North East Somerset Council to refurbish toilets at Ashton Way in Keynsham to provide a disability-compliant facility.

The refurbishments follow on from the new facilities which opened at the new community pavilion in Sydney Gardens in December 2021.

People out and about in Bath city centre can refer to the council’s map of all public toilets in Bath for their nearest facility.

The payment reader for the toilet at Charlotte Street will take contactless card or device payments, or coin pay. All council-operated public toilets cost 20p to use and are cleaned and maintained by the council’s contractor Healthmatic. The charge directly helps to off-set some of the running costs.

Councillor Jess David, cabinet assistant for Neighbourhood Services, said: “The reopening of Charlotte Street toilets and our refurbishment plans for Keynsham is another step in our overall investment into modern, accessible public toilet provision in B&NES. The improvements will help people have a more comfortable day when they’re out and about in our town centres.”

The refurbishment of Ashton Way toilets is expected to be completed during Spring 2022.

There are four Changing Places toilets in Bath and North East Somerset – two in Keynsham and two in Bath. The Changing Places website has a search facility and maps where all five facilities in B&NES feature.
