Preparations are underway for the launch of Bristol’s new permanent indoor ice rink. Situated at The Venue Leisure Park at Cribbs Causeway just off the M5, the ice rink will neighbour venues such as Vue Cinema and Hollywood Bowl. The area has strong travel connections across the city with plenty of parking and frequent public transport servicing The Venue.

Planet Ice has just appointed a General Manager for its Bristol attraction, which will be the fifteenth site for the largest Ice Leisure provider in the UK.

Hannah Thomas, the new General Manager, comments on the progress taking place: “As someone who grew-up ice skating in Bristol, I am so happy to be joining the Planet Ice team in bringing a rink back to the city. The build is coming along really well; it has been amazing to see it taking shape and coming to life.

“We are currently recruiting and developing a team for the Bristol site whilst also preparing launch events for the autumn. We will have more updates and some photos of the progress to show everyone in the coming weeks.”

Hannah’s career started as an Ice Marshall for a seasonal Ice Rink at We The Curious in Bristol where she later progressed into Duty Management before becoming their Visitor Experience Manager. Hannah states her vision for the ice rink centres around ‘focusing on creating and maintaining collaborative relationships within the local community to open the doors into ice sports’.

With community engagement set as a core value for the new rink, key groups will be invited to join Planet Ice Bristol from the very start with involvement in launch events which will take place over the coming months.

The new ice rink will be holding a range of Learn to Skate programmes for all ages, public skating sessions, birthday party packages and events to ensure there is something for everyone.

Updates on the progress of launching the ice rink can be found on the Planet Ice social channels at Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Planet Ice Bristol’s website has now launched, further information on what will be on offer at the new facility and how to get involved will be added to the website as we move closer to opening.
