Following sell out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and London’s Soho Theatre, Jessica Fostekew brings her award-winning show Hench to Bath’s Ustinov Studio for one night only on Monday 9 August at 8pm.

“She finds a new fiercely funny strain of comedy that’s her own” – The Times

Winner of Best Show at the 2020 Chortle Awards, Hench sees absolute powershed and regular host of The Guilty Feminist, Jessica Fostekew, explore her big strong strength, femininity and body image. Have you ever watched a feminist try and take ‘hench’ as a compliment? It’s like watching a snake eat but funny. Both frank and hilarious, this one-woman show is inspired by Fostekew’s own experience of weightlifting at the gym.

“Wears her smarts on her sleeve, great stuff” – The Guardian

Comedian, actor and writer Jessica Fostekew has already enjoyed a sold out international tour with Hench, which was nominated for The Dave Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show in 2019. Television viewers will know Jessica’s comedy from her performances on Live At The Apollo, Qi, Harry Hill’s Clubnite, Sara Pascoe’s Out of Her Mind and Richard Osman’s House of Games. On BBC Radio 4, she is a regular host of BBC R4 Extra’s Comedy Club. As an actor, Jessica has appeared on television in series including Dawn French’s The Trouble with Maggie Cole on ITV, Sharon Horgan’s Motherland on BBC2, Three Girls on BBC1, Cuckoo on BBC and Netflix, and in the feature films Greed and Official Secrets.

Jessica hosts Hoovering, her own podcast about eating, which racked up nearly half a million downloads in less than a year, and is also a regular co-host of behemoth podcast The Guilty Feminist. Her writing credits include BBC’s Mock The Week, C4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and BBC R4’s News Quiz. She also regularly writes for other comedians both individually and in writing rooms for radio and television.

Jessica Fostekew brings Hench to the Ustinov Studio on Monday 9th August. Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Royal Bath Box Office on 01225 448844 and online at www.theatreroyal.org.uk/ustinov
