The much-loved harbourside neighbourhood will welcome LOKI POKÉ to CARGO, its popular retail hub made of converted shipping containers, in the coming weeks - date to be confirmed.

Pronounced poh-keh, which means sliced or diced in Hawaiian, poke is a traditional dish of     marinated sashimi fish, tossed over rice with vegetables. LOKI POKÉ's twist on this Hawaiian street food dish adds vegan and meat options to the mix, with umami-rich sauces served in a beautifully presented takeaway bowl.

Sometimes described as low-key sushi, this fast, fresh and healthy grab-and-go food is synonymous with Hawaii's surf culture, making it a hit in California, Australia and now Bristol.

LOKI POKÉ started as a pop-up delivery service during lockdown back in March last year, inspired by founder Georgia Hussey's time living in Sydney, Australia. Georgia, who grew up on a farm near Bristol, wanted to bring some of that fresh, super tasty but laid-back surf culture food to the West Country, offering a healthy takeaway that still had punchy flavours. Sourcing ingredients and produce locally wherever possible is a key part of LOKI sustainability ethos.

Georgia said: "I'd been living and working on Sydney's Northern Beaches, where you'd grab a poké bowl for lunch or dinner and head to the beach and watch the surf. When I came back to Bristol, I really missed the flavours and ease of grabbing a super healthy meal, so I decided to start making it myself! What's unique about LOKI is all our dishes are completely customisable too.

"We've been blown away by the feedback from people, and we're super excited to be bringing this laid-back food to CARGO - it's the perfect meal to grab and enjoy by the water."

LOKI POKÉ will continue to keep its existing kitchen base at St Philips, with its growing team catering for customers across Bristol via FoodStuff, Deliveroo, UberEats and via click and collect.

LOKI's bowls are completely customisable, with plenty of vegan options: choose a base - brown or white sushi rice, salad or noodles, add your own ingredients, choose your protein, veg, pickles, crunchy toppings and sauce, plus add any extras like avocado to the bowls.

Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade, the developer behind Wapping Wharf, said: "LOKI POKÉ is a fantastic addition to the Wapping Wharf community; bringing something unique and exciting to the mix. With summer approaching and restrictions easing, now is a great time to pop down to Wapping Wharf to pay a visit to some of your old favourites, but also give something new and a little bit different a try too."

The new shop will be located in CARGO 2, at Wapping Wharf, in the unit formerly home to The Pickled Brisket.

Wapping Wharf is in the heart of Bristol's historical and cultural quarter, with its tree-lined pedestrian and cycle route, Gaol Ferry Steps, providing an important connection between south Bristol to the city centre.

Now home to over 40 independent businesses, many of which are based within CARGO - a popular hub made of converted shipping containers, Wapping Wharf is home to some of the city's best independent restaurants, shops, cafes and lifestyle businesses.
