A new collaboration between Breaking Bread and Arbor Ales has seen the creation of an all-new brew, with a big focus on community.

Cans of Breaking Brews

As Breaking Bread re-opens its Pipe and Lovers pub gardens this Thursday 15 April, visitors will be able to sup on Breaking Brews, a fresh session IPA. For every pint enjoyed under the tipis, 50p will go towards funding Breaking Bread’s new Team Canteen CIC.

The Team Canteen has been created as a vehicle to fight against food vulnerability in the city. Josh Eggleton, Breaking Bread founder explains:

“The Team Canteen is a very important project at a very important time. It will be a space to support training and work opportunities for young people, helping them get past the barriers into work. It’s also used as a meal production facility for emergency and community food provision, supporting projects such as Breaking Bread’s at-home ready meals scheme, which is directly helping to feed some of the city’s most at risk.”

“Between April and September 2021, Team Canteen expects to produce 26,000+ free meals for Bristolians facing food vulnerability and will provide a 6-month paid work experience programme for 12 young people and provide shorter training opportunities for a number of other groups. The team plans to host over 20+ fundraising events for community food organisations there. Breaking Brews will support all of this.”

Jamie Cansdale, Arbor Ales, business development manager, added:

“It’s great to be collaborating with the team at Breaking Bread, as soon as we heard about this project, we knew it was something we wanted to be part of. Our suppliers here at Arbor have been incredible in their support. Free malt has been supplied by Warminster Maltings and the can labels were provided free of charge by Label Express. That support has been pivotal in getting this first batch brewed.

The Breaking Brews IPA is also available via the Arbor Ales online shop and throughout Bristol in a range of retailers. For every pint can sold, Arbor Ales will also donate 50p to The Team Canteen.
