If you are attracted to becoming self-employed, but can’t decide on what to do, then this is the Workshop for you.In this session we look at the options available and what to consider, by looking at some real-life examples of how innovative thinking can present a new business opportunity.

About your host
Andy Weeks is an experienced Business Coach and Workshop Facilitator at the YTKO, having spent many years working with both Established and Start-Up Businesses in the West of England, finding effective and innovative solutions and maximising trading performance for these enterprises, across various industry sectors.

He currently a has particular interest in Business Strategy, Finance & Sustainability and has considerable experience in the wider SME sector where he spent in excess of 20 years in business banking, with a major UK lender, where he was responsible for a varied portfolio with aggregate debit balances of approaching £20 million.

He has also previously worked in the third sector for the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, as well as having run his own business advice consultancy and has also worked for Business West – One of the Region’s key enterprise organisations.


Are you eligible to attend?
You must be based within the city of Bristol boundary served by the Bristol City Council. This includes those who have an idea for a business, have recently started one or have a business which is already trading.

Bristol Business & Enterprise Support (BrisBES)
BrisBES is a fully funded support new programme designed to deliver high quality, inclusive and sustainable support to people who are looking to start, launch and grow their own business.

We focus on building your confidence and skills and help you to learn the key knowledge areas to build a successful and sustainable new enterprise. We offer specialist learning and support through a mixed programme of training workshops, networking events, online resources and 1:2:1 support delivered by our team of enterprise advisors.

How is BrisBES funded?
BrisBES is funded by the West of England Combined Authority and Bristol City Council. The programme will help to boost the local economy and create employment for people in Bristol.

BrisBES has received £925k from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
