Earlier this summer, Visit West pushed the button to submit the latest entry for the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS) for Bristol and Bath.  

Every year, we carefully review criteria and try to address where we as an organisation could do better, and while not in time for the 2026 entry, thanks to a well-timed call from Alf Entwhistle (PhD researcher, Swansea Business School), we are able to conduct our first resident sentiment survey. 

We are inviting residents living across the West of England to take part in a short survey about their feelings relating to tourism and events in the region. We are interested in understanding how residents feel about tourism in the area, including its benefits and challenges, how busy it feels at different times of the year, and the role it plays in local communities, as well as residents' views on events and festivals in the region. All feedback will help inform future strategy development, and will have real impact in our future work. 

This survey is intended for residents of the West of England aged 18 and over and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. The survey is anonymous and taking part is entirely voluntary. We will not collect any personal information, and it will not be possible to identify individual respondents from the results. Please support and share with friends, neighbours and family.
