Venues across Bristol and Bath have declared themselves as spaces that welcome and support our city’s trans community.

Bristol and Bath businesses can show their support by submitting an application form where you are agreeing to the Safe Space Pledge, a commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all, including trans and LGBTQ+ people.

Once signed/submitted, you can:

  • Be featured on the Safe Space Bristol and/or Safe Space Bath Instagram by submitting your logo and info for a post on the relevant Instagram grid (guidelines are pinned at the top of the page for Bristol or in the Instagram highlights section for Bath).

  • Receive a sticker for your premises

Please update us on any LGBTQ+ information for your venue, such as safe spaces and public gender-neutral toilets, we can add to your listing and the LGBTQ+ pages on Visit Bath and Visit Bristol.

Updating your Code of Conduct

Some organisations have been reviewing legislation and added to their venue code of conduct and internal bullying and harassment policies. Please see an example from Watershed, Bristol below;

“Watershed recognises the right of staff and audience members to self identify their gender and requires all staff and customers to use appropriate gender affirming language. Examples of harassment related to gender identity may include deliberately mis-gendering someone or policing which facilities they use based on their gender.”
