Avon Gorge terrace with bridge in background

About

Perched dramatically on the edge of the limestone cliffs in Clifton Village, Avon Gorge by Hotel du Vin offers what is arguably the most iconic view in Bristol. Originally a 19th-century spa hotel, the venue has been meticulously restored to blend its Victorian heritage—revealing long-hidden features like stained glass and grand marble staircases—with gritty, modern sophistication. With unparalleled panoramic vistas of Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge and the sprawling Somerset hills, the atmospheric and historic backdrop transforms any corporate or social event into a landmark occasion.

Conferences & Meetings

The conference spaces, collectively known as Aquam Bibe, are inspired by the hotel’s "health-giving" spa origins and the re-discovered Turkish baths of the former site. The versatile meeting suites combine industrial-chic design with state-of-the-art technology, character-filled rooms featuring original steel pipes and tiled floors to smaller, high-spec suites.

Every meeting at Avon Gorge is supported by a dedicated events team and customizable "brain food" menus. Whether you are hosting a board meeting, a creative workshop, or a hybrid seminar, the spaces are designed to inspire, bolstered by high-speed Wi-Fi and natural daylight that frames the famous bridge views.

Parties & Social Events

Avon Gorge is one of Bristol’s most sought-after social destinations, known for its vibrant atmosphere and the legendary White Lion terrace. Whether you are planning a milestone celebration or a corporate mixer, the venue provides a blend of indoor elegance and the city’s best alfresco setting.

Summer Parties - The expansive outdoor terrace offers the ultimate summer party location. Guests can enjoy a private BBQ or a drinks reception overlooking the Avon Gorge, providing a "wow-factor" experience that is unrivaled in the South West.

Christmas Parties- During the festive season, the hotel embraces a cozy, atmospheric charm. Offering festive dining packages in the characterful event spaces, featuring seasonal menus that range from formal banquets to relaxed, festive "bowl food," all set against the backdrop of the bridge illuminated at night.

For grand gala dinners, the elegant event suites provide a dramatic setting for up to 150 guests for a sit-down meal. For more intimate private dining, guests can enjoy the exclusivity of smaller private rooms, or the Goram & Vincent restaurant, which features floor-to-ceiling windows.
