About

Voyage back in time at Brunel’s SS Great Britain, the world’s first great ocean liner. As Bristol’s No.1 Visitor Attraction (TripAdvisor 2023) Brunel’s SS Great Britain offers an unforgettable day out for families, history fanatics and engineering enthusiasts alike.
Designed by famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the iconic steamship SS Great Britain is at the heart of this multi award-winning visitor attraction.

Step aboard the ship to explore the sights, smells and sounds of Victorian life at sea. Discover the SS Great Britain's incredible story and the man behind the design in two interactive museums and go ‘underwater’ for a unique view of the ship’s original iron hull in the Dry Dock.
There are also family activities scheduled throughout the year and special after-hours events.

This year, the crew at Brunel’s SS Great Britain are getting green fingered to dig up the fascinating history behind the global trade of plants across seas in the new 'Plants Crossing Continents' exhibition. They’ll be unearthing the stories behind the world’s first travelling terrariums, revealing an on-board botanist character, tracking down Victorian ‘plant hunters’ and much more. There’ll be family crafting, botanical themed workshops and a brand-new plant-based Discovery Talk set to take place throughout the year.

For International Visitors:

A choice of multimedia guides are included with ticket admission for French, German, Spanish and Mandarin speaking visitors.
A visitor leaflet is available in French, German, Spanish and Chinese, available from the front desk on arrival.
