About

The Original Bristol Blue Glass Company.

Bristol Blue Glass Limited was started back in 1988 by James Adlington, with the help of glass maker Peter St Clair. The aim was to re-establish a glass making tradition back into Bristol that had been lost for over 60 years. At this time a lot of the traditional English glass making techniques were in severe danger of being lost forever. Though many a struggle, James managed to learn and pass on many of the old skills required to truly blow glass by hand, in the time-honoured fashion. Proud of what they have achieved over the passing years, The Original Bristol Blue Glass company makes some of the finest Table Ware free blown in England for many years.

Though they are called Bristol Blue Glass they are able to blow everything in clear Crystal as well. Their skilled glass makers blow all their glass using only the simplest of techniques and basic hand tools. All their range of glass is free blown, therefore every piece is unique just as everyone in the world is. They see themselves as a welcome change from the bland uniformity taking over the modern world: an oasis of skill and design.

Today the factory is open 7 days week and entrance to watch glass being made and entrance to the studio shop is completely free - so if you are ever in Bristol why not pop along to the workshop @ 357 -359 Bath Road? You will be guaranteed a very warm welcome.
