Old Theatre, Conference

About

A unique and historic building in a discreet location in the centre of Bath, The Old Theatre Royal provides a flexible venue for diverse events. The main auditorium provides facilities for a theatre seating up to 140, banquet dining and receptions.  In addition to the main auditorium, we have a dining room, library and ante-room available for smaller and more intimate events including dinners, receptions, training and presentations.  The nature of the building is such that there is not a "corporate" atmosphere, which means it can cater for formal and informal events alike.

We have played host to a variety of events :

* Conferences;

* Small productions;

* Product launches;

* Training and teaching;

* Seminars;

* Live acoustic performances;

* Drinks receptions;

* “White Table” dinners;

* Weddings;

* Celebrations of life; and

* Awards dinners.

The Old Theatre Royal is within walking distance of Bath Spa railway station, and several car parks, and is handy for all the amenities that Bath City Centre can provide.

There is on-site catering available.

The venue was originally built as a theatre in 1750, and became the first Theatre Royal outside of London.  It became a chapel in 1809, and is now the Bath Masonic Hall.  It is run by volunteers, and is not-for-profit, all income contributing to the upkeep and maintenance of this historic site.

The Old Theatre Royal is also open to the public on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11am and 2.30pm, and on Saturday at 2.30pm for regular tours.  Private tours can be booked, and volunteers can be on-hand to provide a tour of the building, and museum to parties using the venue.

There are disabled facilities, including a lift, providing access to almost the whole building, with the exception of the library and a small chapel/green room back-stage.

The Old Theatre Royal is just the place, if you want an atmospheric venue that is “out of the ordinary”!
