About Bath
Bath is the only entire city in the UK that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Key attractions
Bath's appeal dates back to Roman times. The Roman Baths is one of the best-preserved Roman sites in the world, where you can explore the Great Bath, Roman Gym and see artefacts from nearly two thousand years ago. Group rates and private torchlit viewings are recommended. The Baths are open until dusk in the summer months.
Some of Bath’s landmark buildings are now home to museums and galleries, such as The Holburne Museum, Victoria Art Gallery and No.1 Royal Crescent.
Visitors can walk in the footsteps of famous authors of the time Jane Austen and Mary Shelley, or learn more about their lives at the Jane Austen Centre and Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein.
History and Heritage
Bath is most famous for its perfectly preserved, honey-coloured Georgian architecture, with must-see locations including the Royal Crescent, The Circus and Great Pulteney Street. Bath’s grand streets and buildings were also used as filming locations for the popular Regency-inspired Netflix series Bridgerton.
One of the city’s oldest buildings is the medieval Bath Abbey - a guided tour with the chance to climb to the top of the Abbey’s tower is a great addition to an historic itinerary.
Spa and Wellness
The Romans were on to something thousands of years ago, and Bath’s natural thermal waters are still a huge draw for visitors today, with a range of day spas, spa hotels and exclusive treatments available.
Thermae Bath Spa is Britain's only natural thermal spa, where visitors can bathe in mineral-rich waters while enjoying rooftop views across the city. The same waters are piped into the spa at Gainsborough Bath Spa hotel, too.
Major Events
Despite its small size, Bath has a huge cultural calendar, from literary festivals to large-scale music events and festivals.
The Jane Austen Festival is the city’s flagship festival, attracting literary enthusiasts from around the world. Don’t miss the Grand Regency Costumed Promenade, which sees thousands of people dressed in Regency costume walking through Bath’s main streets at the start of the festival.
Spring sees Bath Literature Festival and Bath International Music Festival take over the city, while summer highlights include the Garden Theatre Festival, Bath Pride and Bath Carnival. Autumn and winter also see a range of festivals, such as Bath Children's Literature Festival, Bath Film Festival and Bath Mozartfest.
Popular wellbeing festival, ReBalance Bath, takes place at the end of January and into February each year.

Day Trips
Bath’s location makes it an excellent base for exploring more of the West and South West England. An excursion to Stonehenge from Bath means you can tick off another UNESCO sites in the same trip.
The city is within easy reach of a number of other significant historic sites and towns, including Bristol, Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Salisbury and Avebury, Europe's largest stone circle.
Bath is also on the doorstep of the Cotswolds, with the option of excursions to picture perfect towns and villages such as Lacock, Corsham, Castle Combe, Bourton-on-the-Water, Lower Slaughter, and Tetbury, all within an hour’s drive.
