About

Discover Wookey Hole as you’ve never experienced it before...

Wookey Uncovered is a premium, small‑group heritage experience designed for curious explorers, cultural enthusiasts and anyone fascinated by the deeper stories that shape extraordinary places.

This two‑hour guided tour lifts the veil on over a million years of geology, folklore, industry, and human endeavour hidden within Britain’s most iconic cave system.

What is included in the tour?

  • A tour of the oldest chambers in Wookey Hole Caves, including Witch’s Kitchen, Great Hall and Witch’s Chimney
  • Visit the 17th‑century Paper Mill and watch an exclusive papermaking demonstration
  • Explore the vintage Penny Arcade
  • Hear about the origins of the Wookey Hole Circus School
  • A tasting of award‑winning Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar, paired with local Somerset cider

Guests who prefer not to drink alcohol, or who are under 18, will be offered local juices or non-alcoholic alternatives.

Your Wookey Uncovered Tour ticket includes full access to all standard Wookey Hole attractions, so you are welcome to explore other areas of the site during your visit.

This tour is available only to small groups of up to 20 people, to ensure an immersive experience.

FAQS

Is there an age limit?

The Wookey Uncovered Tour is designed primarily for older children and adults who are interested in history, geology and storytelling. Children under 8 years old are not permitted on the tour due to the length and nature of the experience.

Do I need to book the tour before I arrive?

We recommend booking in advance online, as spaces are limited. Each tour is limited to 20 guests, so availability can sell out quickly.

How accessible is the tour?

The tour takes place inside the caves and involves extended walking, steps, and uneven natural surfaces. Because of this, the tour is not suitable for guests with mobility difficulties or anyone who may have problems walking or standing for extended periods.

The caves include approximately 200 steps, uneven or occasionally wet flooring, and some low sections where visitors may need to duck.
