About

Caves, legends and adventure

In the heart of Somerset lies Wookey Hole, a magical place of caves, legends, and adventure for the young and young at heart.

When you visit Wookey Hole, you’ll enjoy an experience millions of years in the making. There is plenty to do inside and out, from vintage penny arcades to museums, adventure golf, and soft play zones, to name but a few of the attractions. Not forgetting the breathtakingly beautiful caves, for which Wookey Hole is renowned.

Your visit will take you through 8 underground chambers. Each with a unique beauty and story. You’ll also pass the cheese tunnel, home to the delicious Wookey Hole cheese.

The cheese is not the only resident of the caves. Over the years, Wookey Hole has been home to giant hyenas, bears, Neanderthals, and many local people. It has even been a site of pagan and Roman worship.

You’ll find Wookey Hole holds a surprise around every corner. You might even get to meet our most famous resident, the Witch of Wookey Hole. We have found she most likes to visit during school holidays!

The world-famous Wookey Hole Circus School performs at Wookey Hole at weekends and in School Holidays.

Every year over 250,000 people visit Wookey Hole and take-home cherished memories of a great day out. Whether it is your first time or your fiftieth, there is always something new to discover.
