About
Windmill Hill City Farm is a beloved community space found in the heart of Bedminster.
They have been providing a safe place for local people to enjoy nature for 50 years. They seek to meet the needs of local people through a range of social, environmental and educational activities.
Windmill Hill City Farm welcomes visitors wishing to enjoy a working farm, community gardens, 'open access’ outdoor play area, environment trails, cafe and events programme.
The City Farm Café
Open seven days a week, is the social center of Windmill Hill City Farm. The cafe reflects the farm’s ethos by offering home-cooked, carefully sourced food. Next to the farmyard, with lots of outdoor space and picnic tables, it is super child-friendly and a haven of nature.
The City Farm Shop
You can now buy your groceries from Windmill Hill City Farm's online farm shop. It stocks hundreds of thoughtfully chosen products and gifts. Every purchase you make not only means great, local, ethical, food for you, it also enables the City Farm to continue the wonderful work it does.
The Garden Theatre
Nestled within the play areas and the wildlife is The Garden Theatre, an open-air amphitheater. The Garden Theatre has a wide range of family-friendly theatre shows during the year, these have included; The Secret Garden, Peter Rabbit and Adventures in Boxville.
The space is also home to other creative performances, such as Sofar Sounds and Wander Gather.
The Studio
A purpose-built yoga space, The Studio is a small and tranquil spot to enjoy various yoga and pilates classes. The space boasts several different yoga classes, including Yin Yoga, as well as monthly women’s groups and sound bath day retreats.
The Orchard Sauna
These outdoor saunas (up to 95 degrees) also boast chilled and sanitised plunge pools (one at 4 degrees, the other at 10 degrees), chill-out seating for relaxing between sauna & plunge, an invigorating hot shower and a changing area with space to safely store your belongings.
Migrateful
An award-winning migrant-run cookery school, Migrateful joined the farm in 2025. Each class is run by a different cook who will teach you to make the food of their home country. Not only will you learn to make delicious food from Sri Lanka, Turkey, Egypt (and many more) but you will be supporting the cooks with their assimilation in the UK.
The Farm Tap by Bruhaha
This craft beer taproom is located at the farm, providing 8 locally-brewed beers as well as ciders and wines to the farm’s visitors during the warmer months.
The Craft Collective
The farm is a fantastic place to pick up a new hobby or try new creative things.
Pottymouth Workshop is a small female-owned pottery studio who call Windmill Hill City Farm home. Here, you can join a beginner’s pottery throwing class, or for more experienced potters, boost your skills with their intermediate workshops.
Liz Clayton is also part of The Craft Collective at The Farm. Here you can take part in Liz’s popular Bristol Balloon print-making workshop, or her lino-printing courses.

Courses and workshops
Windmill Hill City Farm also offers free courses and activities to adults and children with learning difficulties or anyone diagnosed with a mental health disorder.
Accessibility
Disabled parking
Philip Street runs alongside the City Farm and is part of the Bedminster East Residents’ Parking Scheme giving easy free parking for blue badge holders. The farm is accessible for wheelchair users.
They have a very small on-site car park with bays for disabled drivers, one bay for a minibus and a drop-off area.
Ramp/level access throughout. Motorised scooters are allowed in public parts of the venue. Please note that many of the paths around the farm and gardens are muddy.
Accessible toilet facilities are available.
The farm also recently got an audio tour for visibly impaired visitors.
