About
Calling all Cary Grant fans! The Cary Comes Home Festival is a biennial celebration of Bristol’s most famous film star, bringing Cary Grant back to his hometown through a weekend of film screenings, talks, performances, and special events.
The next full festival weekend will take place from 27–29 November 2026, but in the meantime, the festival continues to celebrate Cary Grant’s legacy with special events and collaborations in the “fallow” years. This year, don’t miss a special screening of Penny Serenade on Saturday 29 November 2025 at the Bristol Megascreen – a rare chance to see this Oscar-nominated classic on the big screen.

Explore Cary Grant’s Bristol
Bristol is rich with locations that shaped the young Archie Leach before he became Cary Grant. Visitors can explore the city’s cinematic heritage through these key attractions:
- Raising Cary Grant – The Bristol Footsteps of Archie Leach
An actor-led theatre walk by Show of Strength Theatre Company, this immersive experience brings to life the streets and stories of Cary Grant’s early years. The next tour takes place on Saturday 29 November at 2pm, starting at the Cary Grant statue in Millennium Square. More info & tickets - Cary Grant Statue
A life-sized bronze statue of Cary Grant stands proudly in Millennium Square, unveiled in 2001 by his widow Barbara Jaynes. It’s a must-see for fans and a perfect photo opportunity. - Historic England Blue Plaque
In 2024, Cary Grant was honoured with a blue plaque at his childhood home in Bishopston, recognising his journey from Bristol to Hollywood stardom.
These landmarks make Bristol a key destination for fans of classic cinema and screen tourism enthusiasts looking to “set-jet” in the footsteps of a true icon.
