The Roman Baths

Step back in time at The Roman Baths, one of Britain’s most remarkable ancient sites, set in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath. Built around the city’s naturally hot thermal spring, this beautifully preserved complex offers a glimpse into Aquae Sulis, where people gathered to bathe, worship, and meet nearly 2,000 years ago.

Visitors can wander around the Great Bath, where steam still rises from the water, and walk along the same stone pavements once used by the people of Roman Britain. At the centre of the site lies the sacred spring - long considered a place of pilgrimage - alongside the ruins of the temple dedicated to the goddess Sulis Minerva.

The museum’s collection includes coins, jewellery, and intricately carved stonework, each piece shedding light on the lives of the people who lived and worked here. Throughout the Baths, immersive displays, gentle lighting, and costumed characters help evoke the atmosphere of a working Roman spa. Audio guides in several languages delve deeper into the site’s engineering, religious traditions, and role within Roman society.

Located next to Bath Abbey in the city’s historic core, The Roman Baths appeal to culture lovers, history enthusiasts, and families alike. The site is also perfect for group visits, with discounted group pricing available for organised groups of 15 or more paying visitors.

Whether you’re exploring for the first time or rediscovering this world‑famous landmark, The Roman Baths offer an engaging journey into Britain’s ancient past.
